Ammonite is actually not a stone; its an old lifeform that had died out nearly 400 million years ago. Ammonites are the living fossils that lived in the times known as cretaceous and jurassic ages, namely they had lived at the time of dynosaurs and had flown with them. Ammonites got their names from the ancient Egyptian deity "Amun". They are marine creatures and have no spines. Their fossiles are very rare in the nature.
